Lisette Norman

Lisette Norman has lived in New Orleans for the past eight years. Originating from Fairhope, Alabama where the colors and lights of the water and sun on Mobile Bay heavily influenced the colors and shapes she uses in her artwork.

She grew up in a family surrounded by "creating."  Her mother was not only an artist, but a writer and instilled in her from an early age a love of creating. She has painted ever since she can remember, and considers herself basically self-taught. She is now, and has been for the past couple of years, taking art instruction at the New Orleans Academy of Fine Art.

According to her, "I do it because I love painting, I want to bring a feeling of happiness to others --- the same feeling I get while I am painting." She has always liked abstract with a touch of realism and is driven by shapes and colors. New Orleans has only served to heighten that with its unique use ofcolors in paints, the landscape and the infamous "purple" sunsets.
